Several MAA Brothers led by Brothers Kalonji Saterfield and Chris Walton supported this event with their presences and presented a $1,000 donation to help support programming.
African American comprise a relatively low percentage of students at UCI; the Fall Harvest is an annual, early school year event designed to bring African American students together for them to meet as a group along with AA faculty, staff and community organizations. Several Phi Lambda Chapter Brothers were in attendance and played very prominent roles throughout the evening. Brother Theron Smith is currently a graduate student at UCI and was one the scholarship recipients during the event. As you are aware the Orange County Uplift Foundation (OCUF) has provided mentoring and scholarships for many years to Phi Lambda Brothers, and others, through its signature Career Matching Program (CMP.) It should be noted that UCI Black Alumni and Alpha Phi Alpha awarded several scholarships during the Fall Harvest. MAA and OCUF had a prominent display throughout the event; representatives from African American student organizations along with Black faculty and staff had information tables and provided updates. An excellent meal was catered by Backyard BBQ.
