MU ALPHA ALPHA CHAPTER—SERVING ORANGE COUNTY CALIFORNIA FOR OVER 38 YEARS

  • Second Baptist Church Health Fair

MAA & Phi Lambda Collaboration – Health Fair in conjunction with OCUF/Second Baptist Church Santa Ana/First Ladies of Orange County. April 22, 2018, Second Baptist Church North, Santa Ana, CA. We had (3) booths: 1) Prostate Care, 2) OCUF to promote fitness, 3) Omega to promote the Omega brand and Phi Lambda will be performing as part of the entertainment for the fair.

SELECTED PROGRAMS AND EVENTS THAT MU ALPHA ALPHA HAS PARTICIPATED IN DURING THE CURRENT 2017-18 FISCAL YEAR:

  • Made a $1,000 donation to the College scholarship fund of the Orange County Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta.
  • MAA Christmas Party at Bro. Bridges home.  The gathering was an excellent event and we collected dues from more than 11 Brothers who were in attendance.
  • $500 Financial support to Phi Lambda to attend the Undergraduate Summit in Atlanta, GA.  (5) Young men from PL traveled to ATL.
  • NFL Playoff Football Social at the Tilted Kilt in the city of Orange.
  • Chapter Social at the home of Brother Dr. Dwayne Benjamin in Mission Viejo, CA.
  • Donated $500 to CMP Mentee Armond Davis to attend the NSBE Conference in Pittsburgh, PA.
  • Started the 5th year of Career Matching Program (CMP) Science Technology Engineering & Math (STEM) Mentoring.  The Orientation workshop was held at Santa Ana College.
  • 2018 District Meeting

  • MAA Chapter participated in 2 programs honoring Brother Pastor Welton Pleasant, MAA Chaplain:  8th Annual Pastor Appreciation Celebration at Christ Second Long Beach Church, March 4, 2018
  • Participated in joint SoCal Area Memorial Service & Area Meeting in Los Angeles, CA
  • Sergeant Eric Bridges
  • The Fullerton Police Department swore in Brother Eric L. Bridges (MU Alpha Alpha, Spring 2000) to the rank of Sergeant. He is the 1st African American Sargent in the 95 year history of the Fullerton Police Department.

  • Made a $1,000 donation to the Orange County Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Z Hope Initiative.
  • Brother Pleasant’s Installation Service as President of The California Baptist Convention at the Torrance Marriott.
  • MAA made a $1300 donation to Long Beach Jack and Jill. This includes ticket purchases and Ericka Downs memorial donation.

  • The Fullerton Police Department swore in Brother Eric L. Bridges (MU Alpha Alpha, Spring 2000) to the rank of Sargent. He is the 1st African American Sargent in the 95 year history of the Fullerton Police Department.
  • "Relay For Life"
  • MAA raised $400 to support the Zeta Pho - Omega Team in the "Relay For Life" walk for the Cancer Society. Brother Pritchett walked between the hours of 1-4:30 am.

  • Career Matching Program

CMP end of program Luncheon was held at Lucille's on June 23rd.  OCUF awarded (7) CMP college students (5) Soaring High School Seniors $500 each for participating in the CMP mentorship program.

  • College Endowment Fund

In accordance with National requirements for all Chapters to be financial and in good standing, Mu Alpha Alpha Contributed $300.00 to College Endowment Fund.

  • NAACP Membership

In accordance with National requirements for all Chapters to be financial and in good standing, Mu Alpha Alpha has maintained its long-standing membership with the Long Beach, CA Branch of the NAACP.  Mu Alpha Alpha became an Life Member in 2017.

  • International Talent Hunt

Joint SoCal Area Talent Hunt, March 11, 2018, Leuzinger High School, Lawndale, CA. MAA had 2 contestants; Mr. Jermain Paul was one of the winners and will perform at the 12th District Meeting in May.

  • 2018 Conclave Awards Ceremony

  • Mu Alpha Alpha Makea a $1,000 Donation to Wise Place

Mu Alpha Alpha donates $1,000 to WISE Place in the name of Kathie Bowman to help create room at WISE Place that will honor her for her 22 years of service at the women’s shelter.
