Mu Alpha Alpha Chapter Supports – A Greater Me Program

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - JANUARY 18, 2025

A Greater Me: "A.G.M." - Changing Lives by Strengthening self-awareness and interpersonal skills to build well-rounded young men.

Led by Brother Basileus J.R. Selby, Mu Alpha Alpha Chapter supported the initial A Greater Me (A.G.M.) program kick-off on this sunny Saturday afternoon in Los Angeles, California. Other Mu Alpha Alpha Brothers in attendance were, Thurm Green, Terry Pritchett and Myron Reed.
Brother Michael Jules (Lambda Omicron Chapter in Los Angeles) is the driving force behind A.G.M. with a goal of providing access to comprehensive educational resources, life skills training, and mentorship opportunities to youth who may not otherwise have access. The target audience is foster care and other young men in the community  ages 14-21. Brother Jules is a Children's Social Worker with LA County Department of Family and Children's Services.
  • The January 18th kick-off event was the first of five (5) consecutive Saturday activities where A.G.M. participants will benefit from interactive workshops led by subject matter experts covering topics such as entrepreneurship & career readiness; self-care; leadership & civic engagement; physical health; financial literacy; surviving law enforcement interactions; and others.
  • In addition to MAA Brothers showing up in person to support, the chapter provided a financial donation to sponsor two (2) young men in the A.G.M. program.
  • The initial A.G.M. group consists of approximately 25-30 young men. The program will provide the young men a full meal each Saturday, premium backpacks with school supplies, a business suit with shirt/tie, Nike branded shoes and other items.
  • Although led by Lambda Omicron Chapter, there were approximately 40-50 Omega men in attendance to support the January 18th A.G.M kick-off to include Omega dignitaries such as Brother Grand Ricky Lewis, MAA Basileus J.R. Selby and Brothers from several other SoCal Area Chapters.
